It is unknown how a french War galleon fell into the hands of pirates, only that the men who sail her appear to be French, so it was rumored a mutiny is what occoured on the ship of the line. No-one knows who her captain is, and some say he is nothing but a ghost. But the day She sailed into a pirate haven on Madagascar, everyone took notice.
The 'La Dame De Mort' proved to be a ruthless boucanier, seizing countless East Indiamen and Mogul Treasure Ships, and sending them straight to the bottom up until the point when a trio of ships of Similar class were sent in a colaborative effort from France and England to stop her. they chased the pirate man o war to Madagascar, Henery Avery himself witnessed the chase.
What happened next surprised him, a group of black frigates appeared, and aided the 'La Dame De Mort'! in abattle the English and French fleet was sunk. Avery fled when the ships turned their guns on him. They pursued him for several days before calling off the chase. Avery could clearly see the Captain of the French ship was a gentleman, with a taste for fine clothes, but knew little else than what he saw from his spyglass.
Later, Avery met a man in the haven he put into calling himself Le Paon Noir 'The Black Peacock' who said the Frenchman who commanded La Dame de Mort was his brother, and he'd built up a fleet of stolen French Galleons and Frigates. As a privateer of King Louis of France, Le Paon Noir had come to end his brother's reign of terror, but also to bring him back to his noble family's château in France.
Avery would not help, so Le Paon Noir went alone, only to find his brother, and the 'La Dame De Mort' had vanished. After sinking the galleons and frigates of his brother's fleet and taking prisoners, he discovered that 'La Dame De Mort' had sailed for the pacific to take the Manila Galleons. he was successful. And by the time Le Paon Noir returned home, a letter from his brother was waiting for him... but that's another story.
