Spanish Urca

Description

A flute was a Dutch ship design. shallow draft, rounded bow and stern and widened out at the bottom. they were used mainly by the dutch, but also the french on occassion, and were popular because of the small crew it took to sail them and the massive amount of cargo they could carry.  In Spain, the flute was called an 'urca'.  Rather erroniously, the Urca de Lima of Black Sails is not an urca, but a galleon. Urca de Lima, is however a place, meaning the vessel was likely named after a location in the Spanish Empire. This Urca however, much like the Urca de Lima in Black Sails, is part of the Spanish Treasure Fleet. Big thanks to my friend :iconmr-freddman: for looking up the Colours of the Spanish Treasure Fleet, which fly from the Urca's flagmast at the stern. In fact, this drawing would not have come about, had he not told me about urcas and inspired me to draw one because it got me to wonder what a spanish urca would look like. The Urca also flies the Spanish cross of Burgundy as a bowsprit jack and I wanted to use the Castille and Leon flag I saw on El Galeon Andalucia at Fairport recently.  This will now be my standard Spanish ship drawing style. inspired by The Curse of Monkey Island (the triangular gunports on the maindeck), a Stephen Betsy Cross section illustration of a galleon, (the paint, small arch gunports in the yellow stripes, and arrowshaped paint on the waterline) and the Man of War from Black Sails (the slanted verticle beams on the fore and aft castle)

Other members of the Spanish Treasure Fleet can be seen in the background. I imagine this ship as a Cargo ship, carrying treasure and a few passengers.
